Phylogeny Study of 20 Selected Species of Zingiberaceae from Ex situ Collections in Peninsular Malaysia

چکیده
Zingiberaceae is widely distributed in Malaysia, with 750 species and 31 genera. This family comprises a different number of subfamilies genera according to taxonomic classification methods — classical taxonomy: one subfamily four tribes vs molecular six tribes. However, the still debated, especially taxonomy. It due some showing cryptic morphologies that make it difficult classify them through taxonomy, which refers unique morphological characteristics tribe/species. Therefore, accurate required by using approach. In this study, 20 selected collected from Agricultural Conservatory Park, Institute Bioscience (IBS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) were taxonomically classified method help three random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers until tribe level. The combined RAPD ISSR unweighted pair group arithmetic mean (UPGMA) phylogenetic tree was comparable Zingiberaceae’s current grouped into (Alpinieae, Zingiberaceae, Globbeae). finding has contributed additional biological information better manage IBS, UPM. Further studies are needed explore genetic diversities properties species.

Pathogenic and Saprophytic Leptospira Species in Water and Soils from Selected Urban Sites in Peninsular Malaysia
Leptospira species were studied in water and soils from selected urban sites in Malaysia. A total of 151 water (n=121) and soil (n=30) samples were collected from 12 recreational lakes and wet markets. All samples were filtered and inoculated into semi-solid Ellinghausen and McCullough modified by Johnson and Harris (EMJH) media supplemented with additional 5-fluorouracil. The cultures were the...
متن کاملDetection of Naegleria Species in Environmental Samples from Peninsular Malaysia
BACKGROUND In Malaysia, researchers and medical practitioners are unfamiliar with Naegleria infections. Thus little is known about the existence of pathogenic Naegleria fowleri, and the resultant primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) is seldom included in the differential diagnosis of central nervous system infections. This study was conducted to detect the presence of Naegleria species in ...

15 صفحه اولA new species of Kerivoula (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) from peninsular Malaysia
Until recently, bats of the genus Kerivoula in Southeast Asia were relatively poorly known, with most species recorded from relatively few specimens (Corbet and Hill, 1992). However, recent use of harp traps (Francis, 1989) has shown that many species of Kerivoula are, in fact, relatively common in the forest understorey in Southeast Asia (Francis, 1990; Francis et al., 1999; Kingston et al., 1...
